Frequently Asked Questions

  • Are there plans for parent and scholar school tours prior to the start of school in the new location

Construction will be active into December of this year which will not allow us to have scholars in the new location due to safety reasons. We will have virtual tours available to show scholars the new spa

  • Will there be on campus security on the outside part of the school during the day? Will there be met

Our safety practices will include traffic officers for our morning and afternoon car lines. We will also have two-way front entrances, a gated campus and fenced perimeter, and closed-door policies. We will continue to prioritize and enhance all aspects of our safety practices that are in our Emergency Management Plan that includes visitor policies, training drills, panic buttons, mental health support service and more. While families had a slight preference for metal detectors, staff and scholars reported feeling metal detectors would not be an effective strategy and would deter students from the school culture. Luna will have full fencing and gates around the campus before school starts in January.

As seats are available at your selected school, we will make offers with the intention of trying to accommodate our Luna families. Please know that some school’s waitlists are extremely competitive, so if you don’t hear back, please reach out to the Family Engagement team so we can see if there is a seat available for you elsewhere.

  • Will there be one or separate carlines for primary and secondary? Will the pickup time be the same f

    Posted by:

We will have separate carlines for primary and secondary and will have an option for one sibling pickup if families have scholars in both primary and secondary. We are still discussing the possibility of following some form of staggered dismissal times between Primary and Secondary School. We will announce those as soon as they are available. They will be very similar to our current times. We will be offering morning and after-care services for families who want to add those for more flexibility. The campus site plan provides significant space to support carline. Additionally, Uplift is planning to provide access to and from the campus for the Primary School drop-off and pick-up operations from the extension of Chenault Street. For the Secondary School drop-off and pick-up, a right turn deceleration lane will be provided for entry to the campus at IH 30 westbound frontage road (WBFR). We believe having two points of entry will help mitigate a longer carline and prevent traffic building up on the service road.

  • Will there be after-school childcare?

    Posted by:

Yes, we will continue to offer before and aftercare services through our Champions partnership and will extend this offering to middle school (scholars 14 and younger) when we move to the new building. Pricing and plans will be available on our website as we finalize the details this summer. We are currently working with the Boys & Girls Club to pick up at the new Luna location. Boys & Girls Clubs are committed to maintaining this partnership. They are in the process of determining if the East Dallas Club or the Gus Thomasson Club will provide pick up at the new campus.

  • Our family is not able to commute to the new Luna campus how do we enroll or transfer?

    Posted by:

Families of current scholars at Uplift Luna Primary or Uplift Luna Secondary are eligible for transfers to another Uplift school where we have open seats. The first required step is for them to complete a 23-24 Application indicating in their first preference their desired Uplift school to transfer. If a family has multiple scholars that they are interested in moving, they will need to fill out a separate application per scholar (being sure to use the same parent email in each application). We highly encourage families to tell us their top three preferences should there be no open seats at their first-choice school. A designated team will be monitoring for new applications from current Luna Primary and Luna Secondary families to ensure their requests are acknowledged and processed for available transfers to new Uplift schools.
