Meet Elevate's New High School Director

Dear Uplift Elevate Parents and Scholars,

I hope this message finds you healthy and safe! I wish I could introduce myself to you in person but will have to settle for an electronic introduction for now. I wanted to officially introduce myself as your 2021-2022 Academic Director at Uplift Elevate High School. My excitement to be an Elevate Blue Jay is truly immeasurable and I cannot wait to meet you all!

I had the pleasure of getting to know the Dallas/Ft. Worth area as an undergraduate student at the University of Dallas. My time with Uplift actually began then, as I led the after-school programming for Uplift North Hills Primary. After graduation I moved back to my hometown of St. Louis, MO with the intention of entering law school. I had a semester before law school would begin, so I started to teach at a school for scholars with special needs. It was only about two weeks in before I realized that education was my calling. Eventually, Texas called me back home and I went to Uplift Hampton Preparatory High School to teach World History and Government. During my time at Uplift Hampton I had the pleasure of serving as Grade Level Chair, Content Teacher Leader, and became very interested in administration. I knew that scholars deserved to have a consistent experience in every classroom they entered. Therefore, I enrolled in the Teaching Trust Aspiring Leaders Program at Southern Methodist University. I graduated in May with my Masters in Educational Leadership. During that time, I also had the privilege of becoming the Dean at Uplift Hampton, working with teachers in each content area and coordinating our first years of the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme. I am excited to bring the learning from these experiences to Uplift Elevate.

I cannot wait to welcome your scholars into High School! Please know that I want to be a partner with you to ensure your scholar feels safe and happy at Uplift Elevate. I want our High School to be a place that scholars are excited to come to everyday. Most importantly, come graduation day I want all of us to know that your scholar is prepared both personally and academically for college and beyond. We will work tirelessly to ensure your scholar becomes an individual that will use their gifts to go on and change the world. Being the first graduating classes of a High School is a special experience, and I am thrilled that your scholars get to leave their mark on Uplift Elevate as we create traditions and experiences that will last for years to come.

I will be working with Dr. Williams over the course of next year to learn the Elevate culture and scholars and am looking forward to getting to know all of you. Please feel free to email me and introduce yourselves at; I would love to hear how you are doing and any advice you have as I prepare for my move to Ft. Worth!
Educationally Yours,
Kendra D. Langley
