International Baccalaureate

  • An International Baccalaureate® education combines academic rigor with social and emotional growth, creativity, and global thinking. IB® helps scholars become not only problem-solvers, but also people who understand community, connection, and how they are a part of it all. International Baccalaureate® is a proven factor in our formula for success.

    While IB programmes are open to selective students at most districts, Uplift Education incorporates IB into every classroom, for every scholar.  Earning an IB Diploma is an available option for every Uplift scholar.

    All Uplift schools are either IB authorized, or in the consideration or preparation phase of authorization.

     
PYP Programme

Primary Years Programme (PYP)

  • Grades K-5

     

    The PYP prepares students to become active, caring, lifelong learners who demonstrate respect for themselves and others and have the capacity to participate in the world around them. It focuses on the development of the whole child.

MYP Programme

Middle Years Programme (MYP)

  • Grades 6-10

     

    As scholars enter the MYP in grades 6-10, scholars are faced with a challenging framework that encourages scholars to make practical connections between their studies and the real world. The MYP is inclusive by design; students of all interests and academic abilities can benefit from their participation.

DP Programme

Diploma Programme (DP)

  • Grades 11-12

     

    After the MYP, scholars are eligible to participate in IB’s flagship Diploma Program. This program is for 11th and 12th graders and aims to develop scholars who have excellent breadth and depth of knowledge – scholars who flourish physically, intellectually, emotionally and ethically. Scholars are encouraged to participate in school clubs, as well as volunteer in their communities.

The IB Diploma

  • Scholars Earning an IB Diploma:

    • have the potential to earn up to 24 college credit hours.
    • are able to pass IB® exams and earn college credit 86% of the time vs. 49% passing rate on AP exams in Texas (Texas Education Agency, 2011).
    • have higher college acceptance rates, especially to top colleges and universities.
    • are more academically prepared for the rigors of a college course load, have the ability to manage their time better, and are prepared for exam-based grading systems.
    • have a better grasp on career options and interests due to research and practical participation during high school.
    • are excellent communicators, critical thinkers, and self-starters.
    • graduate from 4-year institutions at a rate of 79% vs. 39% for those without an IB® diploma. (Bergon, 2015).
